Paignton Zoo and Bays Brewery launch âFunky Monkeyâ charity ale for wildlife conservation
Paignton Zoo, in collaboration with Bays Brewery, is excited to announce the launch of its latest charity brew, âFunky Monkeyâ.
This special-edition charity ale is the newest addition to a series of limited-edition âanimalâ ales, a unique initiative by Paignton Zoo and Bays Brewery that has raised over £27,000 for endangered species so far.
This will be the eleventh guest ale the local brewery has created for the zoo. While drinkers raise their glass they will also be raising funds for Wild Planet Trust â the conservation charity that owns Paignton Zoo â with 10p donated per pint sold.
This yearâs theme is inspired by the zooâs plans for âHamadryas Hillâ, a brand-new home for their troop of baboons that will allow visitors to see them inside and out.
This collaboration follows a series of successful charity brews â including last yearâs âWild 100â, which celebrated the zooâs centenary year â and other favourites such as Orangutan Ale, Crocod-ale, and Trunk Ale. Each of these brews contributes 5% of all proceeds to the charityâs mission of helping halt species decline.
Peter Salmon, Director of Bays Brewery, said:
âWe brewed our very first charity brew with Paignton Zoo back in 2013, and are delighted to be teaming up with one another once again in 2024 with a beer inspired by its cheekiest animal residents.â
Katie White, Wild Planet Trustâs Corporate Relationships Manager, commented:
âWe are thrilled to be working with Bays again for another zoo-themed guest ale. Our partnership with this local business has proved immensely valuable in raising vital funds for our charitable mission to help halt species decline.â
The copper-coloured pale ale is now available to purchase directly from Bays as well Paignton Zooâs Island Restaurant.
