Paignton Zoo partners with Torbay Gin to support conservation efforts in Zimbabwe
Wild Planet Trust, the parent charity of Paignton Zoo, has announced a unique partnership with Torbay Gin, an international award-winning distillery based in Cockington.
This collaboration has led to the creation of a new themed gin, of which a portion of the proceeds from every bottle sold will be donated to the Trustâs overseas conservation work.
Aptly named âMatoboâ, the gin has been inspired by the Matobo Hills in Zimbabwe, where Wild Planet Trust has been working with theâ¯Dambari Wildlife Trust to support wildlife conservation since 1997. The new, limited-edition blend incorporates botanicals native to southern Africa.

This partnership marks the first time Wild Planet Trust has teamed up with Torbay Gin.
Katie White, Corporate Relationships manager, said:
âNot only does the âMatoboâ gin offer a unique taste experience for gin enthusiasts, but it also contributes to a cause that is close to our hearts â wildlife conservation. We are incredibly excited about this collaboration with Torbay Gin and look forward to working together on more initiatives in the future.â
Torbay Ginâs James Guthrie was already in the process of developing and African themed gin for their next product launch when they connected with Paignton Zoo at the Mercure Hotelâs Torbay Business Forum event, commenting:
âIt was just like it had always meant to happen â the timing was perfect. The added bonus from this collaboration is that we get to help give something back to wildlife conservation for every bottle sold.â
Logan Guthrie, Sales Director at Torbay Gin, added:
âWeâve got a long way to go to catch up the fantastic fund-raising efforts of Bays Brewery, but challenge accepted! â
âMatoboâ gin will be available to purchase online at Torbay Ginâs website, as well as in-store at Paignton Zoo and several other retail outlets such as The Wine Box, Hoopers and Dartington Cider Press Centre. Torbay Gin have teased that more retailers will be stocking âMatoboâ in the coming months, and have asked customers to keep an eye on their social media for further updates.
